SUSTAINABILITY

OUR ARTISANS

Selecting our curated network of artisans takes time and patience. The first requirement for all our contributors and associates is that they much share our common vision. We protect freedom of association and collective bargaining, and even foresee alternate means as necessary. We are against all types of discrimination, harassment and abuse. Not a single Wayra employee, artisan or associate works under coercion, exploitation or accepts corruption in any forms. No child labor is used, whatsoever.

Our employees carry out their activities in a safe setting and a healthy environment. They receive fair and timely payment, with every legal benefit. The work activities are carried out within working hours, with strict observance for the rest days our employees are entitled to. Wayra is comitted to improve the artisan´s quality of life and to keep creating sustainable development around the country.

OUR SETTINGS

Our firm strictly complies with all environmental laws and regulations, and we are deeply committed to protecting the environment while respecting wildlife and natural ecosystems. Beyond our environmental responsibility, our greatest purpose is to create a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of the artisans we work with, supporting their growth, well-being, and creative heritage. For this reason, all our activities are guided by a long-term vision that prioritizes sustainability, ethical practices, and the care of our shared home.

We believe in building a better future by encouraging responsible production that benefits both present and future generations. This philosophy is reflected in each of our products, as well as in the strong, respectful relationships we build with our artisan community, who take pride and satisfaction in knowing that their work is truly appreciated, respected, and valued.

CERTIFICACTIONS

At Wayra we produce industrial and artisanal textiles with natural fibers that generate sustainable development under fair trade practices and provide adequate compensation to companies and artisans throughout Peru. We work with the following certifications that allow us to continue our commitment to sustainability.

We are provisional members of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), a global community of enterprises committed to Fair Trade. Through its Guarantee System, WFTO assesses its members on ethical standards, transparency, and social and environmental responsibility. This membership strengthens our commitment to responsible production and offers international clients confidence in our Fair Trade practices.

SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) is one of the most widely used social audit standards worldwide, allowing companies to assess working conditions within their supply chains.
The SMETA methodology is based on four pillars: Labor Standards, Health & Safety, Environment, and Business Ethics, aligned with international regulations and best practices.

Intertek’s Global Security Verification (GSV) programme employs a cutting-edge methodology for promoting best practices throughout the global trade industry. GSV Reduces audit fatigue by enabling suppliers to share their verification reports with various importers, allowing them to prioritise resources towards learning and continuous improvement versus repeat auditing

We are certified under the Fair Trade Good Practices Peru (BPCJ) program, which confirms that we operate under principles of business ethics, traceability, and social responsibility.
This certification strengthens our commitment to Fair Trade and assures our international customers that our products are developed through sustainable processes, equitable business relationships, and a genuine focus on social impact.

AIA

We are part of the AIA in Peru, which works to position alpaca fiber in the global textile market and establish it as one of the finest fibers, recognized for its ancient history and beneficial properties.

The association promotes stable demand, sustainable growth, and benefits for all members of the value chain.

The ALPACA MARK guarantees the content and quality of the alpaca fiber used in the products that carry it.
